hey samantha, Denis here from Wexford Ireland.Saw your link on the jagerhof site. I know Hayley as I took a dog from her last year. Yogi-he is a brother of jake. havn't really been showing him as his hip scores are poor. I also have a bitch (Brooklybear Debinaire) who i do show. I got her from William Dobbin a few years ago. A fantastic example of Newfie's, we are owners of Alfie an 18month old black boy, bitten by the bug are now wanting to get a female brown bear and want to become devoted enthusiasts and start breeding the breed and maybe show them in the near future. Recently went to the Bath Canine Society and was overwhelmed by the standard.....made Alfi look like a scruffy grizzly slobbering sticky albeit lovely in his own little way....a wonderful site with some lovely pictures...

Hello there, I would just like to say how wonderfull your dogs are. My husband and I would like to own a Newfoundland one day. We think they are really lovely looking dogs. Alot of hard work grooming out the shredding hair, etc. I have read alot about the breed the good points and the bad points (not alot of them though just the DROOL lolololol). I have told my hubby that if we do get one then he will have to raise the ceilings on all our rooms and make the room walls 20 foot wider so when it shakes its head the drool will be soooooooo high up we wouldnt see it (until it falls on top of us) hee hee. Bless them whats a gallon of drool between friends eh!
This is something we wouldnt go into lightly. BUT ONE DAY WE WILL BE A PROUD OWNER OF ONE.
We love your site and your dogs are really stunning, and proper Newfie looking, as we have seen alot of adverts for these dogs and they look more like retrievers that the big woolly beauties that they are supposed to look like. ...... YOURS.....Good luck with all of your dogs, and hope they win many more shows for you.

I am a Newfie too...living in Belgium and am thinking about getting a dog from my homeland. I grew up with neighbours owning 3 Newfs and they were wonderful Gentle Giants. I have always loved the breed. You have beautiful Newfoundlanders and it's wonderful to see people worldwide love our dogs as much as Newfoundlanders themselves do. Cheers!

Hi all! What a fantastic site. My hub and I have always had springer spaniels but it has been my dream for many years to have a Newfie. We currently have a little Lhasa apso girl and we are saving hard in hope of having a Newfie towards the begining of 2010. Please could you give as much info as possible on this remarkable breed. We live in the Bridgend area (south wales) in a 3 bedroom dorma bungalow, with a large garden. Was just wondering if this would be suitable for a Newfie? Other than that, I am home all day so he/she would never be without companionship, Looking forward to your response.

Happy Christmas all, and a huge hello to Dennis and Martha. Gorgeous puppies. Looking forward to meeting them, and Doug, Haven't been in touch for a while as every spare minute has been concentrated on Ruby, who is now 7months old. We were at LKA, and whilst she wasn't placed we made the judges shortlist, and that was good enough for me!! She has done well at open shows this last 6 weeks or so, with a bit of friendly rivalry between her litter siblings both of which are being shown. All good fun!!

Dear Doug, I am back to normal now, if that is possible. Tilly, my bernese companion and myself go out and get wet and muddy everyday. We live near to water so we have a daily paddle. Hello Doug and litter mates.
I was having a look at some of the places that Newfoundlands do their water training as a possibility for somewhere for us to meet up. In the Midlands area there is Chasewater in South Staffs and Watermead in Leicestershire, But you may know of somewhere more suitable a bit further South and therefore closer to most of you. Around the August Bank Holiday (but not the Sunday) would be good for me, but most weekends in September (apart from Saturday 6) would be ok.
Barney - thanks for the info on the grass seeds - sounds painful and hope you are feeling better - running through long grass is another of my favourite things so I'll pass this on to Mum and it can be another thing for her to worry about!

Dear Doug and all my littermates, just to let you all know that i had a op today to remove pieces of foxtail grass from my right flank, very painful on me , and dads wallet. Beware if anybody who has a long coated dog that they stay out of long grass in the fields the seeds are like little darts that work through the coat into the skin, causing infection then an abscess,oouch, check your dog for grass seeds after every walk all over their body.

You are all doing so well in your shows, im the brother who likes being a toddler, i'm scared of the wind blowing the trees, today i fell in the river and cryed coz i couldn't get out, my mum had to come in and get me up the bank he-he , its my thick coat got rather heavy for me and i like to be with children playing( i cry if they ignore me)
I'v also let you all down big time boys; I'm an english tea drinker not larger. goes down well after scrambled egg, yummy.
Im not sure wher you all live as to wher we could all play and have a cup-if-tea, he-he maybe our grandparents ( Anne & Kevin) have an idea, Nearly 1, lets have a party, the cake is being sorted too, I love reading all about you hope wev not taken over the guest book well suppose we are related. We wouln't be newfs if we wasn't naughty.

Hello Doug! It's Dudley here. Well done in all your dog shows, sounds like you are doing really well. I went to Crewe and District Dog Show the other day and got Best Newfoundland Puppy, runner up Newfoundland and runner up Working Dog puppy, which I was pretty pleased with, especially as I had to have a lie down in the ring the third time as it was such hard work! I also gave the judge a big wet Newfoundland kiss when he was looking at my teeth!! Don't think showing its the life for me though, I much prefer my swimming (plus Mum is not very good it). Apart from that I have been mainly sleeping, walking, swimming and eating a nice new lawn that has been put down in the garden - very tasty! Hey Sam - try beer, I particularly like a drop of Badger Brewery's Hoping Hare!
